SEEKING AFTER THE GOOD

I am currently a student at Brigham Young University- Idaho.  This university is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  While a student at a church owned university, we are required to take religion courses that are created to help us strengthen our testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and become greater disciples.

In the church we have what are called the 13 Articles of Faith.  These are statements that put forth the basic beliefs, doctrines, and teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints.  You can find all 13 of them through the attached link below.

I have been given an assignment in my religion class  to "Seek After the Good."  It states in the Article of Faith # 13 that "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." There are so many "good" values stated in this article of faith.  It is a great reminder to all that we must always be looking for good to immerse ourselves in.

Over the course of one week I will be "Seeking After the Good" each day and record my experiences.  Lately I have been impressed to start working on developing more charity and patience for myself, and others.  So, over the course of this next week, I will be seeking for opportunities to develop these characteristics, or learn from those in the scriptures that emulate these values.   This is the way I will be "Seeking After the Good" each day.  Stay tuned for daily updates on what there is to lean about patience and charity for yourself and others.
