DAY #4- SEEKING AFTER THE GOOD
Today was a wonderful day. Yet another day to practice patience and charity with myself and others, however I was more aware of how Heavenly Father, and the Savior were practicing patience and charity with me.
Sometimes we get into what we like to call "a rut." I have definitely been in one for some time. Coming home from serving a full time mission is an adjustment. I have been home for a little over three months, but it is still difficult at times. We become consumed with distractions, and deceptions of the world. Those distractions take us away from what is most important, communing with our Father in Heaven through prayer.
Life was just getting too hard to stand, so I took the advice of a wise man, and knelt. As I knelt in prayer, I could feel the love and warmth of our Father surround me. I knew He was there, and I knew he was listening to my prayer.
Later that evening was the General Women's Conference. The messages seemed to be just what I needed to hear. My favorite talk was given by Sister Bonnie H. Cordon, and is titled "Trust in the Lord and Lean Not." She quoted a favorite scripture of mine in proverbs. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He will direct thy paths." The word "trust" really stood out to me in this particular instance.
Trusting in the Lord is not just believing that he is the Savior, and that His atonement was and is for us; but trusting in the lord also means that we trust in his timing.
Here is a link to Bonnie H. Cordon's talk. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
